L. Toni ends his 22-year career at the end of the season

„Verona“ striker Luca Toni has announced that he will end his career after this season of „Serie A“.

At the moment, „Verona“ is in last place in Italy, and the 2006 World Champion expressed his decision after Sunday's 0:1 loss against „Empoli“.

„I think it's time to stop. I hope to finish my career helping the „Verona“ club stay in the „Serie A“ championship.“, - said the striker to Sky Sport Italia.

During his 22-year career, Toni played for fifteen teams, including „Palermo“, „Fiorentina“, „Juventus“ and „Bayern“, with whom he won the „Bundesliga“ championship in 2008.

Last season, the Italian scored 22 goals and shared the title of top scorer in the „Serie A“ with Mauro Icardi. He won this award for the second time - the first was in the 2005-2006 season representing the „Fiorentina“ club. This year, Toni has only one goal to his name.

At 38 years old, Toni has already scored 317 goals in his career, played 47 matches for the Italian national team, and won the „Golden Boot“ award in the 2005-2006 season.
