During the summer of 2018, defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira arrived at London's Arsenal and this season he often has to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench.
Currently attending the Uruguayan national team training camp, the 23-year-old footballer insists that he is not inclined to give up and is preparing to fight for a place on the field.
"All footballers want to play and be in the starting lineup, but it all depends not only on me. These decisions are made by the coach and I respect that.
I just have to keep working hard and not give up. Whether I play in the starting lineup or come off the bench, I have to give my all for the team. That's the type of player I am," Torreira told journalists.
This season, the Uruguayan appeared in seven matches in the Premier League and scored one goal.
