The head coach of "Manchester United" Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Ashley Young will need surgery after suffering a knee injury in the match against "Liverpool".
The Dutchman also revealed that Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger will also not be available for the team in the upcoming match against "Southampton".
"Ashley Young suffered a serious knee injury and will undergo surgery, so he will be out for a long time. It's unbelievable how unlucky we are with injuries. P. Jones and B. Schweinsteiger will also not be able to help this weekend. So, tallying up, we have seven injured players."
Asked about Cameron Borthwick-Jackson's excellent performance against "Liverpool" and his chances of replacing A. Young at left back, L. van Gaal reluctantly commented on the player's prospects:
"More or less he is a good player considering his age. He has already proven that he can handle pressure and tension, but the same question applies to all young players: can they maintain a stable athletic form? One match or a performance after a substitution is always good, but consistency always raises doubts and questions."
The Dutchman concluded the press conference with slightly more optimistic news, stating that Adnan Januzaj will be ready for the match.
"I think he will be ready. He has been working in training and played in one match, which is obviously not much. He needs more game practice, but he will be ready for the match."
