"Manchester United" coach Louis van Gaal revealed the reason why in the last hours of August he decided to sell forward Danny Welbeck to London's "Arsenal" club.
According to van Gaal, the reason is quite simple - the player is of too low a level for a team like "Man Utd".
"I talked to Welbeck and Chicharito before acquiring Radamel Falcao. I give all players a chance to prove their abilities. Danny has been with "Man Utd" since he was nine years old.
He had the opportunity to shine for three years when he returned from Sunderland, but did not score goals as Van Persie or Rooney. That is the standard of this team," van Gaal said.
"We let him go because we have Falcao and promising youth."
