The Netherlands national team became the first team to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
In a fierce 90-minute battle, the Dutch defeated the United States national team 3-1. After the match, Louis van Gaal spoke about the lack of fans in the stadium and assessed the chances of the other quarter-final pair.
"It would be amazing if our country supported us even stronger. We played 4 matches and in all 4 matches our fans were in the minority."
"Will we play against Argentina? I would not underestimate Australia's chances. They were the toughest opponent we faced in 2014. I would like to see what happens today," said L. van Gaal.
Meanwhile, team captain Virgil van Dijk said after the match: "We scored three amazing goals. Meanwhile, the goal we conceded.. I don't even know how the ball ended up in the net during that episode."
The Netherlands will face the winner of the Argentina - Australia pair in the quarter-finals.
