On Thursday, "Manchester United" started a friendly match tour in the USA, and Dutchman Louis van Gaal stood at the team's helm for the first time. The debut was more than successful - the English club crushed Los Angeles "Galaxy" team 7-0.
The victory was ensured by the doubles of three players - Wayne Rooney, Reece James, and Ashley Young each scored two goals. Danny Welbeck added another goal.
Welbeck scored the first goal in the 13th minute from a distance. In the 42nd minute, Rooney doubled the lead from the penalty spot, as a "Galaxy" player handled the ball. Soon after, Rooney scored again as the "Galaxy" defense completely collapsed.
After the second half, Van Gaal replaced almost all players. Then, James scored two goals in a row. At the end of the match, Young added two more.
In his debut match, Dutchman Louis van Gaal used a similar player positioning as he did with the national team in the World Cup. He also included new acquisitions - Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw - in the starting lineup.
