L. van Gaal: The Foundations are Already Laid - "Man Utd" Club has to Move Forward

After the announcement of the dismissal of Louis van Gaal, Manchester United released the following statement:

"It was a great honor to coach such a prestigious club like Manchester United and in doing so, I fulfilled a long-held ambition of mine.

I am extremely proud to have helped the United club win the 12th FA Cup. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of lifting more than 20 trophies, but the triumph in the FA Cup will always be one of the most special awards in my career.

I am disappointed that I could not complete our planned three-year plan. I believe that the foundations have been laid properly and they will allow the club to move forward and achieve even better results. I hope that the FA Cup will become a platform for the club to resist and allow it to restore its former glory, which the fans so eagerly desire.

Working in the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany, I always hoped to have the chance to coach a team in England and be a part of English culture. Both dreams and expectations have been more than fulfilled and the time spent here has been fantastic.

Thank you to my players and I wish them success in the next season. It was a pleasure to work with them, and it was especially nice to see so many young players given the opportunity to break into the first team and they took advantage of it. I look forward to their progress next season with great optimism and anticipation.

Thank you to the club owners and management for allowing me to coach this great club.

I would also like to speak about the great United fans. They are truly the best supporters in the world.

I am grateful to my coaching staff, who dedicated themselves to working here, along with me.

I am infinitely grateful to every club member - the sports science team, medical team, equipment and laundry department, club administration, media representatives, directorial team, Academy players, responsible for travel personnel, as well as Old Trafford and Carrington center employees, who all provided their sincere support while being at the club. Throughout my 25-year senior coaching career, I have never been surrounded by such a good environment as here.

Finally, I would like to thank Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton for always making me and my family feel very welcome during my time as Manchester United coach."
