"La Liga" club captains prepare to protest against matches in the USA

On Wednesday, the meeting of all "La Liga" club captains could influence the future of the championship.

AS reports that famous footballers were upset by the decision of the organizers to sign a contract with a North American company and hold some matches in the USA and Canada.

It is claimed that the "La Liga" organization acted swiftly and did not consult with the championship teams and players.

The captains of the championship teams plan to sign a joint statement condemning Javier Tebas's decision.

It is worth reminding that a few days ago unexpected news shook the European football - "La Liga" committed that starting from this season the country's championship matches will be played across the Atlantic - in the United States and Canada.

It is still unknown how many of the 38 scheduled matches will be organized in North America, but the decision has already been made and some "La Liga" championship matches will be held in the USA and Canada. The contract is for 15 years.

All of this is aimed at further popularizing the Spanish league and generating much greater revenues. Currently, "La Liga" lags far behind the "Premier" league in terms of revenue, so the league leaders were looking for solutions that might delight fans in America but will likely cause quite a chaos in Spain.

"Relevent Sports" also organizes a friendly tournament in the USA every year with the strongest European teams - the Champions Trophy. This tournament in America has attracted great interest, so it was decided to move even official matches across the Atlantic.
