Spain continues to be one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic worldwide. „La Liga“ championships were suspended back in March and currently there are ongoing discussions on how to finish the season. It is most likely that the remaining matches will be played behind closed doors in the months of June and July. However, it seems that Spanish clubs may not have spectators in the stadiums at the beginning of the next season. ESPN reports that the government has decided to require football clubs to play matches in empty stadiums at least until the New Year. Even in the beginning of 2021, fans would gradually return to the stadiums and it may take some time before the stands can be full again. It is stated that this information will be officially confirmed in the near future. However, it is emphasized that the situation might change if a vaccine for COVID-19 is developed. The coronavirus has claimed more than 22 thousand lives in Spain.
