"La Liga" president Javier Tebas hopes that the video assistant referee (VAR) technology, which will be introduced next season, will help to avoid situations like the one that happened in last weekend's match between "Barcelona" and "Valencia".
Lionel Messi's shot clearly crossed the goal line, but the goal was not awarded, and the match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw. So, this mistake cost Barcelona two points.
Nevertheless, soon the number of such misunderstandings will be reduced to a minimum.
"The whole of Spain and the whole world saw the goal", said Tebas.
"If I were to claim that there was no goal, you would say that I am blind. It was a goal and nothing more, and from next season we hope that we can solve these problems with VAR."
"We intend to work on having VAR for the next season."
If Messi's precise shot had been counted, "Barca" would now lead Valencia's footballers by seven points.
