Swedish striker Henrik Larsson is returning to the national team after a few years of break and will participate in the European Championship in Portugal.
The team's talisman retired from the national team after the 2002 World Cup, where he scored three goals. However, the player participated in one of the qualifying matches for Euro 2004 against Hungary in April of last year, which Sweden won 2-1 securing a ticket to Portugal.
Although Larsson had previously stated that he was 100 percent decided and would never return to the national team, now the player claims he changed his mind. "Everyone should be given the opportunity to change their decision and rethink. I feel great and it would be a real folly to miss the opportunity to participate in such a great tournament. If everything goes well, I will play for the national team until they kick me out themselves. After the World Cup, I learned one thing - never say never."
Larsson's return may have been influenced by the fact that the Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" collected 110 thousand signatures urging the player to return to the national team. Among those who signed the petition was the Prime Minister of Sweden, Lennart Johansson.
