Latvia is planning to build another large stadium.

As reported by lsm.lv, this week the Riga City Council granted a 10-hectare plot in the Lucavsala district to the country's football federation.

It is said that now all the arena construction documents will have to be prepared within a few years and an agreement has been reached with the neighboring landowners.

It is estimated that the national stadium will cost 44 million euros, but 12 million of that amount will be covered by UEFA.

Depending on the chosen project, the new football venue could accommodate 15-20 thousand spectators.

Currently, there are already two large arenas in Riga - the "Skonto Stadium" (8,000 seats) and the "Daugava Stadium" (10.4 thousand seats).
