According to unconfirmed information, Roma sent an inquiry to "Barcelona" regarding the possibility of acquiring midfielder Ibrahim Afellay and defender Gabriel Milito.
The Dutchman arrived at the Catalan club in the winter of 2011 from PSV Eindhoven and signed a four and a half year contract, valid until June 2015. As expected, the player did not play in the starting eleven, but Afellay managed to earn the trust of Josep Guardiola.
In just six months with the team, the midfielder was allowed to step onto the field in very important matches, such as the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. This decision paid off: Afellay made a successful pass to Messi, who scored a goal.
According to "Sport.es," if the information about the inquiry from "Lazio" is confirmed, "Barcelona" would not agree to sell the Dutchman. The player himself has also mentioned that he has played in Catalonia for a very short time and has not had the chance to show all his abilities.
However, Milito's situation is completely different. The defender's contract with "Barcelona" expires next summer and it is believed that the Spanish champions would be willing to sell the Argentine for a small sum.
Milito had already planned to leave "Barca" in January of this year, but after talks with Guardiola, the player decided to stay. However, this did not help the injury-prone footballer to successfully compete with the center-backs of the Catalan team.
Ambitious "Lazio" team has already been reinforced this summer by German Miroslav Klose, Lithuanian Marius Stankevičius, Frenchman Abdoulay Konko, and a few other newcomers. The Rome club is expected to officially announce the acquisition of striker Djibril Cissé soon.
