Without the Turin derby, today there are seven matches in the "Serie A" championship.
Main competitors "Roma" did not take full advantage of a stumble by Milan's "Inter", as the capital's "Lazio" fought for silver at home against Verona's "Chievo".
At the end of the first half, the hosts were in the lead after a pass from Stefano Radu, led by veteran Miroslav Klose, but midway through the second half, Alberto Paloschi responded with a precise shot.
"Lazio" team now leads "Roma" by one point in the standings, while "Chievo" is in fourteenth place.
Florence's "Fiorentina" suffered an unexpected loss at home, losing 3-1 to "Cagliari", who climbed to eighteenth place.
The visitors took the lead right from the start of the match, and after Duje Cop doubled "Cagliari's" lead in the 60th minute, the winner of the match was almost clear. Alberto Gilardino scored a response goal after a quarter of an hour, but a precise shot by Diego Fariaso sealed the match.
"Fiorentina" remains in seventh place after the loss, trailing by points from the fifth spot, which allows participation in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers, as the excellent form-displaying "Napoli" defeated the medal-seeking team of "Sampdoria".
Rafa Benitez's team, despite trailing in the middle of the first half, responded with four goals to secure three points. Napoli is now only two points away from second place, and three points away from the leaders.
