Leaders of European football force S. Blatter out of FIFA presidency

On Tuesday, the voices of representatives of European football federations were loudly heard in the world media, who directly spoke out against FIFA President Sepp Blatter. According to them, the president must take responsibility for the unrecognizably damaged FIFA reputation in recent years and should resign next year.

UEFA Executive Committee member Michael van Praag stated that he had already told S.Blatter himself that in his opinion, the Swiss should not seek re-election next year, as the FIFA reputation was particularly tarnished during his tenure. Critics also included Brits Greg Dyke and David Gill, members of the English Football Association board.

According to M. van Praag, the organization's reputation is currently very poor: “People associate FIFA with corruption and bribery, as well as old boys' ties.” The president of the Dutch Football Federation emphasized that this is not a personal attack on the president.

Sepp Blatter met with UEFA representatives on Tuesday. After securing support from representatives of other continents, Europeans have been the only ones to express criticism of the Swiss' leadership.

The head of the country's football federation also told the Dutch newspaper "Volkskrant" that "the image of FIFA has suffered from everything that has happened in recent years. There are very few people who still consider FIFA a serious organization, and no matter how you look at it, S. Blatter must take responsibility for it."
