This step, according to some Spanish media channels, was not very pleasing to the main team's footballers. However, as Lionel Messi announced on his Instagram account, the players do not oppose this decision and, on the contrary, will do everything to ensure that other club employees continue to receive their full salary. The Argentinian added that the players did not immediately agree to the conditions just to find ways to help others.
"We have always been open to reducing our salaries because we understand the current situation perfectly. We were surprised that other club people started watching us closely and putting pressure on us to do what we ourselves had considered doing. If the agreement was delayed for a few days, it was only because we were looking for a formula that would be best for the club and its employees during this extremely difficult period. We didn't talk publicly until now because we wanted to find the best decision-making method that could help not only the club but also the most affected people," Messi wrote in his message.
