The third stage of the League Cup has ended.

"Everton" unexpectedly defeated "Aston Villa" 2:1 away.

Unai Emery's team looked somewhat sluggish in the match, and the "Everton" players took advantage of it by scoring in the first half - the goal was scored by James Garner.

In the 50th minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubled the score after a mistake by "Villa" in defense. The hosts managed to reduce the score towards the end of the match, but they did not find the equalizing goal.

"Arsenal" won 1:0 away against "Brentford" thanks to Reiss Nelson's goal.

Two other London clubs advanced to the next stage: "Fulham" defeated "Norwich City" 2:1, while "West Ham" won 1:0 away against "Lincoln City".

Meanwhile, "Liverpool" defeated "Leicester City" 3:1, despite conceding an early goal against the Championship leaders. Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Diogo Jota stood out for the "Reds".

Other results:

"Blackburn Rovers" 5:2 "Cardiff City"

"Bournemouth" 2:0 "Stoke City"
