"Leipzig" and "Atalanta" teams - Champions League quarterfinals © JumpStory

On Tuesday evening, the first two participants of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals were revealed. For the first time in history, the "RB Leipzig" and Bergamo "Atalanta" clubs reached this stage of the tournament. In Germany, Jose Mourinho's London team "Tottenham" had no chance against "Leipzig". Three goals guaranteed victory and advancement to the next stage with a total score of 4:0. "Leipzig" didn't need even half an hour to show their advantage against "Tottenham" - Marcel Sabitzer punished Hugo Lloris and the entire opponent's defense in the 10th and 21st minutes. "Tottenham" had no response to Leipzig's offense and in the 87th minute received the final blow when Emil Forsberg scored his first touch to the ball. A true goal fiesta was recorded in the empty Mestalla stadium in Valencia. Four goals by Slovenian Josip Iličič brought an historic ticket to the quarterfinals for the "Atalanta" team - a 4:3 victory against "Valencia". The first match in Bergamo ended in a 4-1 defeat for "Valencia", so there was not much suspense. In these matches, "Valencia" equalized the score twice and even took the lead once (3:2), but their defense was shattered by the 32-year-old J. Iličič, who scored all four team goals. The Slovenian not only led the team to the next stage, but also became a Champion's record holder - the oldest player to score a "poker". He left the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimović behind.
