Until the start of the new Spanish championship, just a week away, "Barcelona" coach Luis Enrique held a press conference to praise his team's work, but noted that the final team composition has not yet been finalized.
On Monday, "Barcelona" will play the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy match, which is considered the opening of the season and a gift to the fans - the whole team will be presented to their supporters at Camp Nou stadium.
This time, the Catalan team will host the "Club Leon" team from Mexico. This is a friendly match, so the coach did not miss the chance to announce that in this duel the team's newcomer Luis Suarez will definitely appear. The Uruguayan cannot play in official matches for the team, but the Sports Arbitration Court allowed him to play in friendly matches.
"Luis Suarez's disqualification will not in any way affect the team. We anticipated this scenario and knew what to expect. The team is working and on the field will play those players who are best prepared. I am satisfied with how the team worked in preseason training. I think the fans will also be satisfied with what they will see in the new season. All players are pleased - both the team's veterans, those I knew before, and the newbies," the coach emphasized.
Luis Enrique was immediately questioned about Gerard Deulofeu, who was loaned to "Sevilla" club, and confirmed that it was his personal decision.
"It became clear that he will not have much time to play in matches, and he needs to play. So, it was my personal decision. I think it's better for him to spend the season in another team, where he can spend more time on the field and prove that he deserves a place in the Barcelona squad," explained the coach.
By the way, the coach confirmed that "neither he nor the team leaders believe that the team is finished being formed": "Barcelona" always needs reinforcement. In the new season, we are expecting tough competition and constant struggle."
The coach also added that during the preseason cycle, he wanted the team to train more and play fewer friendly matches.
This summer, "Barcelona" did not go on tour to Asia or South America and chose Europe - all friendly matches were played on the Old Continent.
