After starting preparations for the new season, the senior coach of "Barcelona" team Luis Enrique held the first press conference on Tuesday.
According to the Catalonia team's strategist, the goal of his players is to repeat the triumph of last season and first of all try to win six trophies in one calendar year.
In 2015, the Catalonia club became the Spanish champion, won the King's Cup and celebrated victory in the UEFA Champions League.
At the end of the summer, "Barca" faces a clash with "Sevilla" for the European Super Cup and two matches against Bilbao "Athletic" for the Spanish Super Cup. In December, "Barcelona" will travel to Japan, where the Club World Cup will be held.
If the Catalonians manage to win all these trophies, "Barca" would repeat the achievement of Josep Guardiola's team in 2009: 6 tournaments - 6 cups in one year.
During the press conference, Luis Enrique also thanked the interim committee temporarily governing "Barca" until the presidential elections for approving the deal with Madrid's "Atletico", according to which midfielder Arda Turan moved to the Catalonia team. However, he, like the previously acquired Aleix Vidal, will not be able to help the team until January 2016.
"Before starting my vacation, I put the team together and I am grateful to the Interim Committee for acquiring Arda Turan. This was my request. I do not interfere in the process of the Barcelona presidential elections. My job is to train the team. I think that any of the candidates who win the elections will do their job properly. Yes, I will participate in the elections taking place on Saturday and I know whom I will give my vote to," said the strategist, who, as expected, did not reveal his favorite.
Recent rumors in the media about the possible departure of forward Pedro Rodriguez to London's "Chelsea" were also not left unaddressed: "I trust all the footballers who are currently in the team. I want nothing to happen, but I will respect the players' decisions. This also concerns Pedro. He is needed by the team, but there is the player's opinion, buyout option, and other circumstances. I can say the same about Adriano."
Luis Enrique also announced that forwards Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi are being promoted to the main "Barcelona" team, but this does not mean that both players already have guaranteed places.
"Everything will become clear in preparation for the season. I do not guarantee anyone a fixed position. Pedro knows this well, as he played for my "Barcelona B" team. The same goes for Sandro and Munir. They can be loaned to other teams. I just want my players to play as they do best. I hope the same for Douglas and Thomas Vermaelen," emphasized the strategist.
"The goal of the season is to repeat last year's success, but now the main driving force for us will be the opportunity to win six trophies in one year. We will strive to further improve our game and develop. If the team gives its all, we can succeed. I do not want to talk about Paul Pogba and other players who are not members of my team. We already have two newcomers who will not be able to play until January, so both I and the team's veterans will do everything to help them adapt to the new team as quickly as possible," assured Luis Enrique.
