One of the most prominent both in France and overall football newspapers "L'Equipe" named the main four candidates who will compete against Karim Benzema for the "Ballon d'Or" title during the remaining part of the season. The French newspaper currently names "Real" forward Karim Benzema as the main favorite. His opponents are predicted to be:
- Kylian Mbappe
- Robert Lewandowski
- Kevin De Bruyne
- Sadio Mane
Bookmakers currently name three main favorites to win the "Golden Ball": K. Benzema, R. Lewandowski, and M. Salah. Following are - K. Mbappe, Lionel Messi, K. De Bruyne, and S. Mane.
All of these contenders can still fight for the Champions League title this season, except for the leaders of PSG. S. Mane's chances are highly appreciated, likely because during the winter the "Liverpool" forward managed to win the Africa Cup of Nations together with the Senegal national team.
