Today in the already played three LFF Cup quarter-final matches, "Kaunas" and "Vėtra" won victories by a minimal score at home, "Ekranas" snatched a draw against "Šilutė", while the match between "Žalgiris" and "Atlantas" ended goalless.
In Kaunas, as well as in other cities, the matches started with a minute of silence to honor the late Pope John Paul II. After a minute of silence, intense matches took place on the field - this year, the debutants in the A Lyga, "Šiauliai", were not willing to give in to their well-known opponents.
However, FBK "Kaunas" managed to achieve a victory by a minimal score - in the 39th minute, the eleven-meter penalty was successfully converted by Kaunas striker Andrius Velička. The return matches between the clubs are scheduled to take place in Šiauliai on April 9, but the exact location will be confirmed later.
The match between Vilnius "Vėtra" and Marijampolė "Sūduva" took place at the Palanga winter field due to the prolonged winter. The victory by the sea was also won by Vilnius players with a minimal score. The only goal of the match was scored by striker Šarūnas Litvinas with a penalty kick from the middle of the penalty area.
Like the "Kaunas" - "Šiauliai" match, the match between Vilnius "Žalgiris" and Klaipėda "Atlantas" took place on the artificial turf field in Kaunas. The latter match ended goalless.
The most dramatic match took place on the reserve field of Klaipėda "Žalgiris" stadium. The home team "Šilutė", who played the home match, took the lead after Gvidas Juška scored an 11-meter penalty early in the match, but "Ekranas" did not give up and three minutes before the end of the match, Vitalijus Kavaliauskas equalized the score.
