On Saturday in Druskininkai, in the LFF Futsal Cup final quarter, the "Kaunas Žalgiris" and "Saulės kraštas" clubs confidently won their matches, earning tickets to the grand final. Both winning teams responded to their opponents with seven goals each and won with identical results - 7:0.
The first to step onto the field were the representatives of "Saulės kraštas" and Mažeikiai VIP. The match started with high pressure from "Saulės kraštas" and a goal scored 35 seconds in. Taking advantage of a mistake by the opponents and a pass by Dmytro Klochko, Maksimas Solonyna opened both the match and the final quarter.
Mažeikiai held on for a while, but as the half approached, their opponents doubled their lead. Taking the ball in the middle of the court and escaping on the attack, the "Saulės kraštas" players, after a pass from Donatas Morkis and a shot from Maksimas Pochebut, left no chance for the VIP representatives.
As subsequent events showed, this goal became a turning point. After the break, "Saulės kraštas" did as they pleased, while VIP just counted the goals they missed. In the second half, Dmytro Klochko scored two goals, while D. Morkis and M. Pochebut each scored one. Mažeikiai scored the seventh goal into their own net.
Following in the footsteps of "Saulės kraštas," a couple of hours later, "Kaunas Žalgiris" also successfully took the field. The Kaunas team showed superiority by scoring seven goals against the Vilkaviškis "Bruklinas," who finished the season before.
Just like in the first match, in this semifinal the first goal was scored quite quickly. After nearly five minutes played, Deividas Reimaris successfully dealt with the ball and sent it into the opponents' goal.
And if the first goal was not enough for the "Bruklinas" team to recover, midway through the half, first Lukas Sendžikas, later Wepe twice, and then Arthuras with goals determined the end of the match.
The second half was a formality, in which the country's champions once again showed their superiority. In the second half, after five minutes played, Arthuras secured a double, and after another five minutes, just like in the first semifinal, a goal was scored into their own net.
The "Saulės kraštas" and "Kaunas Žalgiris" footballers, who have made it to the final, will start their fight for the title tomorrow at 15:00 at the Druskininkai LSC sports complex. Admission to the match is free, and live broadcast will be available on SPORT1 channel and futbolas.tv platform.
