LFF II League: First victory for Širvėna and an easy stroll for Žalgiris

In the LFF II League A division, eight matches of the eighth round were played over three days. In seven of them, at least three goals were scored, and only in the match between "Širvėna" and "Dainava" B in Biržai, the ball found the net twice.

By the way, there "Širvėna" achieved their first win of the season, and the most goal-filled match was played in the capital, where "Žalgiris" B scored nine dry goals against "Saned".

Confidently

In the eighth round, three teams ("Jonava", "TransINVEST" B, "Dembava") secured confident victories. Interestingly, this quartet has not yet experienced a single defeat this season.

In the match on Friday, without the help of the A team, "Žalgiris" B managed to score five goals in the first half against "Saned". The difference increased to 9-0 after the break. Among the young players of "Žalgiris", Titas Stakėnas stood out with three goals. On the other hand, "Saned" arrived in the capital with a weakened lineup - they had only three players on the bench, and the role of the main goalkeeper fell for the first time this season to fifty-year-old Saulius Kužmarskis.

"TransINVEST" B players scored three dry goals against the team occupying the penultimate position, "Džiugas" B. Despite the large final difference, the match could have ended completely differently, as for 77 minutes the hosts did not allow the opponents to score, but then conceded three goals in nine minutes.

The score of 3-0 was also achieved in Jonava, where the hosts defeated the league's underdogs "Fortūna". In a match that lasted more than half an hour without goals, the most productive player of the league Ričardas Beniušis broke the deadlock. For the veteran, it was already his ninth goal of the season. Later, another goal was scored before the break, and a third one after it.

Also without any defeats this season is "Dembava", currently in the second position. Over the weekend, the team from Panevėžys secured their fourth victory, defeating "Sūduva" B with a score of 4-1. The foundations for the victory were laid before the break with goals from Vincent Wiredu, Eimantas Abramavičius, and Zack Mohammed.

Two goals too few

In the eighth round, both "Šilutė" and "Viltis" managed to score two goals each, but even that was not enough for these teams to secure points. "Šilutė" lost 2-4 to "Ukmergė", while "Viltis" lost 2-3 to "Neptūnas".

The four consecutive wins of "Šilutė" were interrupted by "Ukmergė", who won for the second time. Undoubtedly, the referee's decision to send off two of the home team's players from the field contributed to this. In the first half, Žilvinas Česnulis received a straight red card, and towards the end of the match - Paulius Lotužys was also shown the red card.

Interestingly, with ten remaining players, "Šilutė" managed to equalize to 2-2 after converting a penalty kick, almost an hour into the match. The last goal was scored when the teams played eleven against nine.

"Viltis" also suffered a painful defeat. The representatives from the capital took the lead 2-0 after goals from Džiugas Omilevičius and Justas Vaišnis, but conceded three goals without reply in the last half-hour. During this time, six "Viltis" players received yellow cards.

Two goals enough

If two goals were not enough for "Šilutė" and "Viltis", then for "Širvėna" and Klaipėdos FM, they were more than enough to secure victories and add three points to their tournament account.

"Širvėna" secured their first win and rose from fifteenth to twelfth place. Domantas Nebilevičius and Edvardas Tamulevičius scored for the winners in the first third of the first half.

Klaipėdos FM also welcomed Kybartai's "Sveikata" with two goals before the break. However, at the very end of the match, a penalty was awarded to the home team, which Joseph Zawko confidently converted.

B Division

In the LFF II League B division, two matches were played last week. After a highly fluctuating and goal-filled battle, Klaipėda "Sirijus" beat "Utenis" 4:3. In other matches, Prienai "Nemunas" secured a victory with two goals in the second half against "Be1" B.

After these two matches, "Nemunas" jumped to first place in the league standings, "Sirijus" to third.

Round 7

The seventh round of the LFF II League A division starts on Friday with a match between Klaipėda FM and "TransINVEST" B. On Saturday, five matches will be played, including the central match of the round between "Dembava" and "Šilutė". On Sunday, it will be a day of direct clashes between competitors: "Saned" - "Širvėna", "Sveikata" - "Sūduva" B.
