LFF II league: in the leaders' group - no changes

Last weekend, the eighth round of matches of the LFF II League took place at the country's stadiums. There were no changes in the leaders' group, as all three leading teams achieved victories.

The team "Širvėna" continues to successfully compete, which after four defeats at the start of the season, won three times in the next four matches and played once in a draw. In this round, a single draw was recorded, revealing the winner between "Sūduva" B and Klaipėdos FM.

Leaders' Group

As last week, "Jonava" is ahead of "TransINVEST" B team by two points, while the latter have two points more than "Žalgiris" B. The entire trio occupies the top three places in the tournament table and all three teams celebrated victories last weekend.

"Jonava" hosted "Dembava", who had not suffered a defeat before, and Ričardas Beniušis stopped their series of unbeaten matches. The league's top scorer gifted his team an additional three points with the only goal at the end of the match. "Dembava" dropped to seventh place after their first defeat.

The only goal at the end of the first half was scored in the Vilnius regional derby between "TransINVEST" B and "Viltis". Levani Chapodze scored the winning goal in this match.

The match unfolded much easier for the "Žalgiris" B team, who defeated "Ukmergė" 4-0. Meinardas Mikulėnas and Romualdas Jansonas, borrowed from the A team, laid the foundation for this victory, and due to a red card for the remaining guests at the end, Žalgiris players were able to double the lead.

Second Group

There are only 6 points that separate the eight teams outside the leading trio. In other words, within two rounds (or this one week), a team currently in fourth place may find themselves in tenth place and vice versa.

At the top of this group are the young players of Klaipėdos FM, who, as mentioned earlier, ended their match against "Sūduva" B in a 1-1 draw. Having 9 points and being in eleventh place, the Marijampolė team precisely closes this second group. In the match in Marijampolė, the guests took the lead after Jakub Jančauskas' goal before the break, but the hosts equalized the score three minutes before the end of the match.

"Šilutė“ achieved their fifth victory in the championship by defeating "Sveikata“ 3-1 at home, who is placed in the tenth position. Although "Šilutė“ played without their leader Paulius Lotužis, there were more players in the team capable of securing victory. A penalty awarded to the Kybartai team just before the break was a turning point in these matches. Donatas Surblys converted it, took his team into the lead, and in the second half, he and his teammates managed to maintain that advantage.

"Dembava“ is in ninth place, and a secure victory of 5-2 was achieved by Klaipėdos "Neptūnas“ B in seventh. In just 15 minutes of play, the Klaipėda team took the lead 2-0 through Martynas Velyvis and Laurynas Barsteika. The same duo scored another goal in the next 17 minutes, deciding the end of the match.

"Širvėna“, who achieved their third victory in the last four matches, also joined the second group. The Biržai team took a 2-0 lead at the beginning of the match after Edward Tamulevičius converted a penalty and Martynas Dūda scored in the acceleration of the second half.

Bottom Five

In twelfth place with two wins and two losses, "Ukmergė", which we mentioned earlier, did not match "Žalgiris" B in this round. Much more intrigue was seen by the viewers in the thirteenth place occupied by "Dainava" B and the fourteenth position taken by "Džiugas" B.

The match held on Friday saw the Alytus team score the first goal just before the break, but in the second half, Mantas Pikčiūnas gifted his team the first victory of the season with two accurate shots.

"Saned" in fifteenth place and "Fortūna" in sixteenth place sufferings we have already discussed.

B Division

Last week, two matches were played in the LFF II League B division. The "Garliava" B team achieved their third victory and became the leader of the division by defeating the second-placed Prienai "Nemunas" 2:1. The foundation for victory was laid in the first half. Vilius Giedraitis had already scored a double by then.

In the second weekend matches, "Utenis" suffered another crushing defeat - this time against "Tauras" B. To make matters worse, the Utena team finished the match without a dismissed player.

Round 9

In the LFF II League, there is a double week, so the battles of the ninth round will start already on Tuesday. In Pasvalys, "Dembava" will seek to avoid the fate of the weekend and will seek opportunities to defeat "Žalgiris" B.

A similar fate awaits "Sveikata", which will compete with "Jonava" in Marijampolė. On the same Tuesday, a crucial match for survival will take place in Joniškis between the 14th and 15th placed teams.
