LFF II League: lessons paid in points for leaders

After last weekend's matches of the seventh round of the LFF II League A division, the sole leader became the team of "Jonava", which was the only one from the top three to secure a victory in the final minutes of the match against "Ukmerge".

Meanwhile, both "TransINVEST" B and "Žalgiris" B unexpectedly dropped points when playing against potentially weaker teams.

Draws

In the seventh round, the winner was not determined in three matches. The result was recorded as 1:1 twice and 2:2 once. The biggest surprise was in Kaunas, where the previously point-less "Fortuna" took points away from the contenders for the league title - the players of "Žalgiris" B.

Both goals in both of those matches were scored towards the end of the first half. Initially, it was the players of Žalgiris who scored, but then the representatives of "Fortuna" also found the back of the net.

A very similar scenario was observed in the match in the port city between Klaipėda FM and "TransINVEST" B. The Vilnius district team opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but the result was equalized after ten minutes. The emotional match saw 7 yellow cards shown.

Meanwhile, no yellow cards were shown in another two draw matches. "Dainava" B and "Neptūnas" B in Alytus celebrated goals twice or once in each half.

One - in the Blink of an Eye

In two matches of the round, a minimal victory of 1:0 was recorded for the hosts. Such a result was achieved by "Dembava" and "Sveikata".

In the match in Pasvalys, "Dembava" secured a victory with the only goal in the middle of the second half against "Šilutė". This was the third season loss for the Šilutė team, while "Dembava", still unbeaten, climbed to fourth place. It is worth noting that due to not meeting licensing requirements, the team from Dembava received a three-point deduction. If not for that, they would now be sharing the second position with "TransINVEST" B.

Before the season, "Sveikata" was also penalized with a three-point deduction and with a minimal difference, they defeated "Sūduva" B and rose to seventh place. The only goal missed by Sūduva at the start of the second half dropped them to ninth place in the tournament table.

Three - Not Enough

Three teams managed to score three goals within the round, but two of those three teams suffered defeats with the same scoreline. The unlucky ones were the players of "Ukmergė" and "Saned".

In the match in Jonava, Titas Korsakovas and Ričardas Beniušis gave "Jonava" a two-goal lead with their goals in the 12th minute. Just when it started to seem like there would be no drama, Nojus Ramankevičius equalized the score.

R. Beniušis quickly gave "Jonava" another one-goal advantage, and as the match was ending, the most interesting events began - with a minute left in regular time, Tomas Gulbicki equalized the score, but four minutes later, Genaras Samsonik scored the winning goal.

There was less drama in Joniškis, even though "Saned" scored first against "Širvėna". For their audacity, the hosts were punished with four goals by their opponents before halftime.

At the start of the second half, Mantas Palubeckas was sent off the field with two yellow cards, and "Širvėna" took advantage of it by scoring their fifth goal. Within the remaining half-hour, the hosts scored two more, while the guests found the net once and received a red card. "Širvėna", who gathered 7 points in the last three matches, is now eleventh in the table.

Three - Sufficient

As already mentioned, for one team, scoring three goals was enough for a victory. In the match in the capital city, "Viltis" defeated "Džiugas" B by a score of 3:1. The difference could have been even greater, but in the first half, Tomas Chomičius missed a penalty, and the only goal for the visiting team was conceded in the final moments of the match. Tomas Valukonis scored two goals for the winners.

B Division

During the past week, two matches were played in the LFF II League B division, which once again were marked by a wealth of goals. The first defeat in the championship was suffered by "Garliava" B, who fell behind by two goals against "Hegelmann" C in the last twelve minutes but couldn't fight back.

In this match, Ignas Ambrazevičius of Garliava missed a penalty, and Denisas Sliusarenko received a red card after the match had ended, but emotions were still running high.
