LFF II League: "TransINVEST" reserves rise to the top

The second double week of the summer season for LFF II league clubs started differently. For example, former leader "Jonava" experienced its first failure, the unbeaten streak of "Širvėna" was broken, while "Žalgiris" and "TransINVEST" secondary teams easily defeated their opponents.

"TransINVEST" B secured three additional points for the team, guaranteeing a trip to the first place in the tournament table.

This result repeated four times in the ninth round. Home teams won twice with this result, while the visitors also won twice.

The biggest intrigue was in Marijampolė, where the home team Kybartų "Sveikata" defeated "Jonava" who had fallen to third place. Joseph Anthony Zawko scored a double utilizing the opponent's mistakes in both the first and second halves.

As the match approached its end and with "Sveikata" leading 2:1, two Kybartians received red cards within five minutes, and "Jonava" was unable to break through the opponent's defense, partly due to goalkeeper Adamas Vieraitis and imprecise shots from the Jonava players themselves. By the way, Ričardas Beniušis remained goalless in this unusual season match.

The foundation for victory was laid at the beginning of the match by the "Ukmergė" team, which defeated the previously unbeaten "Širvėna" in four matches. This victory was the third in the championship for the Ukmergė footballers. Emilis Putinauskas scored a decisive goal from a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

The match between former table neighbors "Saned" and "Džiugas" B was won by the latter. Both goals were scored within the first 12 minutes. The visitors reduced the gap towards the end, but they could not equalize.

"Šilutė" also achieved victory on the road, defeating the Klaipėda FM youth team with the same scoreline of 2:1. The goals from Lauryno Baužos and Roko Rusio before halftime helped Šilutiškiai climb to fourth place.

Confidently

Two of the matches in the round ended with victories by a three-goal margin. As mentioned earlier, "TransINVEST" B and "Žalgiris" B confidently ended their matches.

The former won 3:0 against "Sūduva" B in Marijampolė, while the latter triumphed 4:1 against "Dembava" in Pasvalys. In Marijampolė, "TransINVEST" B had to wait nearly an hour for the first goal, while "Žalgiris" B forward Meinardas Mikulėnas opened the scoring just 10 minutes into the match. M. Mikulėnas scored a total of three goals in the game.

From the bottom

After a long period without points, Kauno "Fortūna" played to a 2:2 draw against Klaipėda "Neptūnas" B. This was enough for the Kaunas team to surpass "Saned" in the tournament table. It was very close for Igor Pankratjevo's team to celebrate their first victory of the season, but in the final minute, they could not hold off Ignas Paulius.

10th round

From Saturday to the following Monday, the matches of the tenth round will be played, with the central match being "Žalgiris" B - "Sveikata". The Vilnius team continues this season unbeaten, while the Kybartians face the match after a splendid victory against "Jonava". However, "Sveikata" will be without the suspended Nojus Galianovas and Mantas Kereiša.

An interesting match is expected in Telšiai, where "Džiugas" B will try to improve their situation in the tournament table after the match against "Fortūna".
