LFF licenses have been issued to four clubs © EuroFootball.com

Yesterday, the meeting of the Licensing Committee of the Lithuanian Football Federation took place, during which it was decided which of the eleven clubs received licenses.

This year UEFA introduced a system where all of its member associations, including the LFF, must undergo a licensing process.

All teams wishing to play in the "A League" and UEFA European competitions had to submit documents and meet the requirements.

Out of the 11 clubs, only four - "FBK Kaunas," Klaipėda's "Atlantas," Marijampolė's "Sūduva," and "Šilutė" - were granted licenses by the committee.

This decision was quite unexpected for many, as even the vice-champion "Ekranas" did not receive a license.

However, "Ekranas" and other clubs can appeal, and their cases will be reviewed on March 31.

The LFF hopes that more clubs will receive licenses, as otherwise there may be too few teams to hold the championship.
