LFF will turn to the Government regarding the renewal of the season © JumpStory

After Thursday's remote conference of the Lithuanian Football A League Board, it was decided to appeal to the government to resume the football season in Lithuania. The General Secretary of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Edgaras Stankevičius, summarizing the situation, did not hide his joy about the well-managed COVID-19 pandemic in the country and emphasized the desire to bring back the football season. "With the government easing quarantine conditions, many A League clubs have already started full training sessions, so it is not surprising that speculation about the resumption of the football season has begun in the public space. We had many remote conferences where we analyzed the situation and discussed the possible resumption of football championships. If the government satisfies our request and allows the resumption of the A League, we will also extend to other championships, including the First and Second Leagues and the women's championship," said LFF General Secretary Edgaras Stankevičius. Among the proposed dates for the resumption of the A League in the request are May 23-24 or May 30-31. If the government allows the championship to continue during quarantine, the A League matches would be organized without spectators. Later, until June 15, permission will be requested from the government to organize matches with 10% of the stadium capacity, and after June 15 - with 20% of the stadium capacity, ensuring a 10 square meter area per person and a distance of 2 meters between them.
