Controversial "La Liga" president Javier Tebas says that Cristiano Ronaldo's departure did not affect the league, what could have happened if the Portuguese had left a few years earlier.
"La Liga" has been best known for two things in the last nine years - intriguing "El Clasico" clashes and the never-ending competition between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
This summer, as the Portuguese left for Turin's "Juventus", a new star did not arrive in "La Liga", and specifically in the Madrid "Real" club. However, as Tebas himself assures, the loss of C. Ronaldo did not actually have a big impact on the league.
"We have worked hard to make the 'La Liga' brand stand above all clubs and players," ambitiously stated J. Tebas.
"If Cristiano had left four years ago, I would have been very worried - I would have chosen nine out of a ten-point scale. Now his loss from the same points scale scares me only with four or even three points," he added.
Speaking to the "Daily Mail", J. Tebas also revealed that he is waiting for the return of strategists to the league, who took "El Clasico" to a whole different level.
"I would like to see both the best players and coaches in the league. For example, I would really like to see Mourinho and Guardiola working in Spain," the Spaniard added.
