On Sunday, there were two last matches of the third round in the French "Ligue 1" championship. The other eight matches were played on Saturday.

One of the strongest French clubs, "Marseille", won their first point in the standings by playing a draw at home against defending champions "Lyon", who lost their first points in this year's championship.

"Marseille" took the lead already in the 7th minute when they beat the opponents' goalkeeper Taye Taiwo, but in the 35th minute, the new leader of "Lyon" attacks, Norwegian John Carew, equalized the score.

Meanwhile, another French football giant, "Monaco", after an unsuccessful last round, this time secured a victory against "Strasbourg" with goals from Sebastien Squillaci and Ernesto Chevanton, with a score of 2-1. "Strasbourg" scored a consolation goal only in the last minute of the match.
