Today three matches of the French championship were played.
The "Saint-Etienne" players suffered a painful defeat at home, moving away from the fourth place. Christophe Galtier's team lost to "Caen", who scored a goal in the middle of the first half with a header from Sylvio Rodelin.
The fourth-placed "Lyon" team today secured a great victory against "Metz". Although they didn't quickly take the lead, Memphis Depay started showing his skills at the end of the first half. The Dutchman scored a goal by quick reaction to a loose ball, and immediately after the break doubled the lead against their outmatched opponents.
After Ivan Balliu scored an own goal, Depay made an assist to Alexandre Lacazette, and ultimately completed everything with Mathieu Valbuena.
Lyon's team is still four points clear of "Bordeaux" in fifth place, but the top three remain difficult to reach.
In the evening, the defending champion "Paris Saint-Germain" hosted "Marseille". Unai Emery's team, as usual, did not dominate possession, but when creating attacks, it seemed that today was the day of the Parisians.
Marquinhos took them ahead with a header in the seventh minute, and Edinson Cavani doubled the lead after ten minutes.
The first half ended with a score of 2-0, but Lucas Moura reminded everyone of his abilities at the start of the second half. Then, after playing just over an hour, Julian Draxler scored the fourth goal. The opponents responded with a precise strike from defender Rod Fanni, but Marseille players had to score an own goal after a great combination from Blaise Matuidi and Marco Verratti.
After the final whistle, the scoreboard finally showed a 5-1 result. Thanks to this, "Paris Saint-Germain" continues to lead, closely followed by "Monaco" and "Nice" also securing victories.
