Ligue 1: "Marseille" is approaching the Champions League © EuroFootball.com

On Wednesday in the French "Ligue 1" championship, the remaining two matches of the 36th round were played, in which the important victory was won by the 11 of "Marseille", while the match between "P.S.G" and "Rennes" ended in a draw.

"Marseille" secured a 1-2 victory away against "Auxerre" after Mamadou Niang and Renato Civelli goals, rising to the 4th place with 58 points. The same amount of points is held by the 3rd-placed "Lille" club due to a better goal difference. It is worth reminding that the team finishing in the 3rd place in "Ligue 1" earns the right to compete in the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

After Wednesday's matches, "Rennes" had the chance to claim the 3rd position, but they failed to do so and are now settled for the 5th place after a draw with "P.S.G".

"Rennes" players took the lead in these matches when Kim Kallstrom from Sweden scored a penalty in the 71st minute. However, "P.S.G" did not give up and in the last minute of the match, Bonaventure Kalou scored a goal to equalize against "Rennes".

It's worth mentioning that following this failure of "Rennes", the 2nd place in this season's championship was secured by the "Bordeaux" club, as "Rennes" was the only team that could have retained at least theoretical hopes of overtaking Bordeaux players with a victory.
