"Ligue 1": "Nantes" and "Marseille" drop points, "Lyon" celebrates hard-fought victory (VIDEO)

Three last matches of the French championship round were played last evening.

A very close fight took place between the players of "Saint-Etienne" and "Nantes," who ultimately ended up sharing the points.

Players of "Saint-Etienne" were in the lead after the 38th minute thanks to a great long shot by Vincent Pajot, but Claudio Ranieri's players recovered after the break and equalized with Emiliano Sala.

Although the match ended in a 1-1 draw, there were plenty of opportunities throughout the game - the ball hit the net even after Leo Lacroix's disallowed shot, and Santy Ngomo's shot at the end of the match could have brought the victory to the "Nantes" team.

Later on, "Lyon" bounced back after the defeat, defeating the team "Caen" which currently holds the high seventh place in the standings.

Interestingly, the home team had more shots on goal, but Bruno Genesio's side took the lead in the 10th minute with a goal from Maxwel Cornet.

They doubled their lead later with a goal from Mariano Diaz, so Ivan Santini's goal at the end of the match did not change anything.

The round was concluded with an evening clash between the teams from Southern France - "Montpellier" and "Marseille." There was no shortage of tough competition, so the referee had to show six yellow cards.

The home team, Montpellier, took the lead with a goal in the 29th minute by Giovanni Sio. However, this result did not last until halftime - Hilton handled the ball in the penalty area just before the teams went to the dressing room, and Florian Thauvin calmly converted the penalty kick.

"Marseille" dominated the field and had all the chances to take the lead, but the rivals resisted the pressure, and the match ended in a draw, allowing "Lyon" to move up to the second place in the standings.
