On Friday evening, the 2013-2014 season of the French "Ligue 1" championship began.
The opening match of the season was a symbolic duel. The weapons clashed between last year's champions "Paris Saint-Germain" and the champions of the previous season "Montpellier".
The "Montpellier" team, playing at home, took the lead in the 10th minute after Remy Cabellos' goal.
In the second half, PSG defender Maxwell equalized the score.
In the 72nd minute, the hosts were left with ten men after defender Abdelhamidas El Kaoutari was sent off.
The French champions, despite their numerical advantage and the appearance of newcomer Edinson Cavani on the field, were unable to snatch a victory and lost points in the first round of the championship.
