This weekend, the third round of matches of the French football "Ligue 1" championship were played. In total, nine matches were played, with no shortage of surprises.

The biggest surprise of the round was presented by the "Caen" club, who only this season made it to the "Ligue 1". The newcomers defeated the previous season's UEFA Champions League finalist "Monaco" team after Cyrille Watier scored a goal in the 23rd minute. It is worth mentioning that in the previous round, the same "Caen" managed to take 2 points away from the "P.S.G" team and so far has not experienced a defeat this season.

Another surprise could be considered the defeat of the "P.S.G" club to the "Toulouse" team with a score of 2-1. However, considering that in three matches the Parisians have not yet achieved a victory and, having collected only one point, are currently one of the tournament underdogs, this failure could be called routine this season.

One of the tournament favorites, "Marseille", also had a bit of bad luck as they failed to maintain their advantage against "Nice" and only managed a 1-1 draw, even though Benoit Pedretti scored a goal in the 46th minute. The result was leveled in the 62nd minute by Serge Die, who earned a red card a minute later and was sent off the field.

Currently, there are four teams in the lead in the championship - "Lens", "Toulouse", "Marseille", and "Bastia", each with 7 points. The defending champions "Lyon" could also join the leaders if they manage to beat the "Metz" team today.
