On Thursday, UEFA shortened the list of candidates who are competing for the title of the best player of the previous year's European matches. Cristiano Ronaldo, Arjen Robben, and Manuel Neuer will compete for this trophy. Out of ten candidates, only three finalists remained after the second round of voting, and the winner will be announced on August 28 during the Champions League draw ceremony. Cristiano Ronaldo, together with Real Madrid, became the Champions League winner. Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben with Bayern Munich became Bundesliga champions and won the German Cup. The German also became a world champion in this summer's World Cup held in Brazil. Argentinian Lionel Messi only reached fifth place and withdrew from further competition. Sports journalists from all over Europe vote in these elections.
