Lionel Messi, who scored 401 goals: "I never thought it would happen"

During the Spanish Championship match against "Granada," Lionel Messi, after defeating the opponents' goalkeeper twice, scored his 400th and 401st goals in his professional career.

To reach this milestone, the Argentine needed 525 official matches for the Argentina national team and the Barcelona club.

L. Messi scored 248 goals in the Spanish Championship, 29 in the King's Cup matches, 67 in the UEFA Champions League, 10 in the Spanish Super Cup matches, 4 in the FIFA Club World Cup, and 1 in the European Super Cup match. Additionally, the forward scored 42 goals while representing his national team.

"I never thought I could score so many goals. I am very happy with this achievement, but I promise not to stop. I will do everything to help the Argentina national team and Barcelona club continue to achieve victories," the footballer stated.

Out of the 401 goals scored, Messi aimed 21 shots at Real Madrid's goal, 20 at Atletico Madrid's goal, 19 against Osasuna, 18 against Sevilla, and 15 against Getafe and Valencia each.

His teammate, Brazilian Neymar, also celebrated the striker's success.

In the match against "Granada," the forward scored three times and recorded his first hat-trick in the Spanish Championship.

"Lionel and I are improving as a duo. I am glad that I managed to score three goals. I believe I can continue to play productively," said the Barcelona midfielder.
