Lithuania - among the candidates to host the European U19 Futsal Championship for boys © lff.lt

Almost three years ago, Lithuania successfully hosted the FIFA Futsal World Cup and last year was appointed as the host of the 2026 UEFA European Championship with Latvia. Lithuania now aims to continue this tradition by organizing another tournament - the final stage of the 2025 UEFA European U-19 Futsal Championship.

The tournament is scheduled for September, with the participation of the 8 strongest teams from the continent.

"The opportunity to host another international futsal tournament in our country would be another chance for our fans to see futsal talents up close, as well as to support our national team. Of course, there is still a lot of work to be done, but the first steps have already been taken," said LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius.

Since the deadline for submission of applications has not yet expired, it is not clear which countries Lithuania will have to compete with for the right to organize this tournament. Applications can be submitted until August 31 of this year, and the championship organizer will be announced in September.

The UEFA European U-19 Futsal Championships began five years ago. In the inaugural tournament in Riga, Spain's youth team emerged victorious. Due to the COVID pandemic, the championship was postponed from 2021 to 2022 and took place in Spain, the stronghold of the first champions.

The home court advantage for the young Spaniards ensured another appearance in the final and a showdown with Portugal's youth team. After extra time, Spain successfully defended their title.

The organizational rights for the third championship were entrusted to Croatia, who, along with Portugal, Spain, and Ukraine, participated in all three championships. Just like in 2022, Spain and Portugal made it to the final, but this time the young Portuguese claimed the title.
