Three Lithuanian football clubs have climbed more than a hundred places in the ranking of the strongest clubs in the world. In the ranking published by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), Lithuanian champion Kauno FBK is ranked 141st (last year - 259th), vice-champion Panevėžio is at 165th place (last year - 228th), and Vilnius has risen to 288th place from 428th.

Spain, titled as the strongest club in the world, has displaced England from the first place.

IFFHS also announced the ranking of the strongest football leagues in the world. The Lithuanian top league A Lyga is ranked 38th on this list.

IFFHS also announced an analysis of the strongest leagues in the world. It is emphasized that the biggest progress was made by clubs in the highest leagues of South Africa (rising from 66th place to 25th), Senegal (rising from 69th place to 26th), Costa Rica (rising from 52nd place to 31st), and Venezuela (rising from 67th place to 40th). However, many leagues in various countries lost their positions. These include the highest leagues of Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Egypt, Poland, Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Uzbekistan.
