ixteen thousand litas. That is how much the new trophy of the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) cost, which will have its owner on May 20. The new trophy will be attempted to be added to the old one in Marijampolė by Panevėžys "Ekranas", who triumphed in the final two years in a row. The ambitions-chasing VMFD "Žalgiris" will try to pave the way for the Lithuanian champions.

Sculptor Džiugas Jurkūnas' services were needed by the LFF after it was decided that the old trophy was too worn out and did not satisfy many club leaders.

"After meeting with club coaches, players, and owners, we decided that we needed a new trophy because the old one was not liked by everyone," said LFF president Julius Kvedaras.

The finals of the trophy will take place on Sunday at the Marijampolė stadium, but the people of Suvalkija still had competitors. Kaunas and Šiauliai wanted to host the final matches in their cities.

"Our demand was simple - a high-quality pitch, so that we wouldn't hear concerns about poor conditions. We chose the best pitch. Before that, we visited all three and evaluated them," said J. Kvedaras.
