Lithuanian footballers abroad. Season review V © EuroFootball.com

Approaching summer, most of the European leagues have either ended or are nearing the end of their seasons. Clubs where footballers from Lithuania played are no exception. The last review is about our country's representatives who played in the largest group of Lithuanians in Poland.

Poland:

Nerijus Valskis (27 years old) - "Wigry Suvalki"

2014-2015 season:

Liga 1 - 1 match (19 minutes);

1 Liga - 5 matches (411 minutes).

Starting the season in Romania, Valskis did not shine there - he appeared only once on the field, playing for 18 minutes, and left the team in the winter. Joining the well-known to Lithuanians "Wigry Suvalki" team in January, the defender quickly established himself in the club and appeared in the starting lineup in the first five matches. Unfortunately, after that, in none of the last 9 matches, Nerijus did not appear on the field. Only six matches during the season and no goals - such a season should make any club worried if they are interested in the Lithuanian's services this summer.

Next season: Valskis will not remain in the "Wigry Suvalki" team - his contract with the team has ended and will not be extended. Whether the 27-year-old defender should try to continue seeking fortune abroad or return to the A league, where he scored 27 goals just two years ago, are questions that should arise for Nerijus and his agent. Wherever his career takes him, we can only wish that it would not be similar to the past season for Valskis.

Povilas Leimonas (27 years old) - "GKS Katowice"

2014-2015 season:

Ekstraklasa - 4 matches (174 minutes);

1 Liga - 14 matches (969 minutes).

Starting the season in the "Jagiellonia Bialystok" team, Povilas was in the starting lineup in the first three of the four matches, but after losing 0-3 to the "Gornik Zabrze" team, he was benched and only entered the field for one minute before the winter break. Due to the limited playing time, Leimonas decided to leave the team, which finished in 3rd place, and go to the second league team "GKS Katowice." There he performed much better - he played in almost all the club's matches, and the team maintained its position in the middle of the tournament table.

Next season: Even though Povilas Leimonas's contract in the same league as Valskis has already ended, neither the team nor the player himself has decided whether to extend the cooperation for the next season or if the Lithuanian will seek another team. The fact that he has already played in the Ekstraklasa league before and that he was a starting player at the beginning of the season in the league winners, gives hope that he will be sought after by clubs in the highest league in Poland this summer. And if not, the Lithuanian is welcome to stay in the same "GKS Katowice" team.
