After the failed negotiations with the Dubai (United Arab Emirates) consortium DIC, the leaders spent a long time debating whom to entrust the future of the team to - the new owners of the club are expected to be the Americans George Gillett and Tom Hicks at the beginning of next week.

An agreement was reached by both parties in a secret meeting earlier this week. It is believed that it was because of this meeting that DIC withdrew from further competition for Liverpool.

The owner of the ice hockey club Montreal Canadiens, G. Gillett, and the owner of the ice hockey team Dallas Stars and the baseball club Texas Rangers, T. Hicks, presented an offer of 470 million pounds sterling to the English (the Arabs offered 450 million). Of this amount, 215 million, if the agreement is successfully signed, will go to the new Liverpool team stadium (the Arabs offered 200 million).

Current shareholders of "The Reds" are expected to receive 80 million pounds sterling. The full amount will be paid by the American businessmen in equal installments.

Last year, G. Gillett tried to buy Liverpool without partners, but he failed. This year, the American, after inviting T. Hicks to join the company, who has repeatedly built modern stadiums for his teams, achieved his goal.

Furthermore, it is believed that T. Hicks joining the deal was one of the biggest advantages that helped the Americans reach an agreement with the leaders of Liverpool.

G. Gillett and T. Hicks have worked shoulder to shoulder before - the Americans led one of the largest meat processing companies in the United States. The idea of jointly acquiring Liverpool club was born to the businessmen during last week's North American National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star Game.
