"Liverpool" advanced to the final of the English League Cup after 11-meter penalties (VIDEO)

On Tuesday, the second leg of the England League Cup (''Capital One Cup'') semifinals took place at ''Anfield'' stadium.

''Liverpool'' supported by their fans once again clashed with the players of ''Stoke City''. The ''Potters'' scored a goal to extend the game, but after an 11-meter penalty shootout, they lost to the hosts and missed out on the dreamed final.

The visitors from Stoke started the match more actively and looked more dangerous in attack. Mark Hughes couldn't expect a different game from his students, as in the first match ''Liverpool'' celebrated a victory with a score of 1-0.

Later in the game, the play leveled out and attacks subsided, but at the end of the first half the visitors had their chance and broke through when Marko Arnautovic netted a goal after a precise pass from Bojan Krkic from the right flank.

In the second half, there was no shortage of struggle and dangerous opportunities, but after more than 90 minutes of battle, the result remained 0-1 and the teams entered extra time.

In extra time, the most realistic opportunity to score was by Marco van Ginkel, who replaced the injured Charles Adam, broke through several ''Liverpool'' players and took a shot, but the hosts were lucky - the ball hit the post.

So, the teams led by Klopp and Hughes had to battle it out in an 11-meter penalty shootout. It took seven attempts from both teams, but S. Mignolet managed to save two shots and lead ''Liverpool'' to the final.

In the final of the England League Cup, the ''Liverpool'' club will have to compete with ''Everton'' - the winner of the ''Manchester City'' pair.
