According to reports from Portugal, the "Liverpool" club is close to reaching an agreement with Lisbon's "Benfica" for the transfer of winger Lazar Markovic to the "Reds" team.
It is reported that Brendan Rodgers' team has submitted a £19.8 million offer, which has been accepted by the Portuguese team. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
The 20-year-old footballer arrived at "Benfica" just over a year ago from Serbia, Belgrade's "Partizan" club. Last season, his performances in the ranks of the Portuguese champions caught the attention of several major European teams. Markovic has played 12 times for the Serbian national team.
If the deal goes through, Markovic would become the fourth acquisition for the "Liverpool" team this summer. The team has already been reinforced by "Southampton" players Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert, as well as defender Emre Can from the "Bayer" club.
The "Liverpool" team could also be enhanced by 19-year-old striker Divock Origi, who currently plays for "Lille" and represented the Belgian national team at the World Cup, displacing Romelu Lukaku from the starting lineup.
