Leverkusen's Bayer club confirmed that Emre Can is interested in the Liverpool team.
Last summer, the Turkish-born footballer moved from Bayern Munich to Bayer. At that time, a sum of 5.5 million euros was paid for him.
Now it is said that Brendan Rodgers is willing to pay 12 million euros for the central midfielder.
"We know about Liverpool's interest, but there is nothing official yet. There is a condition in Emre's contract that, once fulfilled, he can leave the team, but his future decision has not been made yet," said Bayer's sporting director Rudi Voller.
"Selling him would be profitable since we acquired him for less. However, we want him to stay in the team for at least another season.
