In June, forward Dirk Kuyt, who will play for the Dutch national team at the upcoming World Cup in Germany, hinted that he is being pursued by the club that won last year's UEFA Champions League.
This season, the player representing the Dutch club has already announced that he will leave his current team after the season and move to a club in England. So far, the main contender to acquire the 25-year-old Dutchman has been the club looking to replace the retiring Alan Shearer.
However, Kuyt himself has now stated that recently he has attracted the interest of "Liverpool" manager Rafa Benitez, who also does not hide the fact that he wants to acquire a talented forward during the summer. Apart from Kuyt, the Merseyside team is also interested in "Tottenham" forward Jermain Defoe.
"The president of my current team informed me that 'Liverpool' is interested in me," Kuyt said. "I am very pleased with the attention I am receiving, but I have a few choices. Nevertheless, whatever happens next season, I want to play in England."
Kuyt has played a total of 101 matches and scored 71 goals for "Feyenoord". It is believed that the player's price could be around £10 million.
