In the second half, Jurgen Klopp's players demonstrated the same threatening game, but it did not bear fruit. In the 78th minute, the Manchester United players created an opportunity and scored the decisive goal of the match.
Marouane Fellaini struck with his head towards Simon Mignolet's goal, but the ball hit the crossbar and flew straight to Wayne Rooney's feet. The goal of the Manchester United captain determined the end of the match and brought crucial three points.
In the other match, Stoke City fought against the London Arsenal club in front of their supporters. Arsene Wenger's players failed to defeat their opponents and the match ended in a goalless draw.
Arsenal remains in the lead position with 44 points, but Leicester also has the same. Manchester City, in third place, is now just one point away from the leaders.
