In the 99th minute, after the final whistle, Firmino scored the winning goal. He outsmarted the goalkeeper and one of the defenders, delivering the third title in the past year to Liverpool.
Liverpool competed in the FIFA Club World Cup final for the second time in the club's history. The first attempt in 2005 ended in defeat to another Brazilian team - Sao Paulo.
The third place in the tournament went to Monterrey from Mexico, who defeated Al-Hilal after a penalty shootout.
