Just a few days after announcing that the Bayern Munich team will be led by coach Niko Kovač next season, most fans shook their heads.
However, German football legend Lothar Matthaus defended the 46-year-old Croat who has not accumulated much coaching experience.
The celebrity assured that Kovač has excellent chances of leading the Bayern team to great victories.
"Niko has experience, as he was a very good footballer and also served as captain of the Croatian national team.
"Bayern was looking for a specialist who speaks German, and Kovač did an amazing job in Frankfurt in just under two years, leading a team on the edge of relegation almost to the Champions League.
The Croat is charismatic, passionate, and knowledgeable about soccer.
"He was a leader on the field and now behaves the same way as a coach," Matthaus insisted.
